One of the strangest thing is that Spain has no words on their National anthem. Marcha Real is among the four national anthems of the world without any lyrics which is quite odd. Four other National anthems without any lyrics are San Marino, Kosovo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. Marcha Real is one of the renowned and oldest National Anthem Of the world.
There was a threat for the replacement of the Marcha real as the National anthem after the revolution of 1868. When General Rim launched a new contest to change the national anthem but his efforts did not bear any fruitful result. During the time of second republic between the time of (1931-1939) The Marcha real was replaced by Himno De Riego as the official anthem but the former glory was again restored during the time of Spanish civil war when Francisco Franco declared as the national anthem under the title of La marcha grandera
