Romeo Dev, the world’s smallest bodybuilder
At 2’9 “and a simple and a half stone, Aditya” Romeo “Dev is the world’s smallest bodybuilder.
Using custom-made 1.5 kg dumbbells, Romeo, 19, pumps iron daily to prove that small is beautiful.
Romeo is perfectly proportioned, and despite his diminutive stature has triceps, biceps, calves and thighs that are more of a grown man blush.
It was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in 2006 after three months of intense exercise.
Large crowds regularly flock to watch him at his gym in Punjab, where, as well as weight lifting and push-ups Romeo is training to become a dancer.
“I trained like a bodybuilder for the last two years and now I think I must be the strongest dwarf in the world,”
said Romeo.
“I’ve always been good, but since I started working on that I have become famous for my strength.
“My size has never stopped I train with dumbbells and people do aerobics and dance are always happy to see me – .. I was invited on television shows and dance on stage . “
Ranjeet Pal, Romeo trainer and a family friend who runs a gym in his hometown of Phagwara, says Romeo has never let his size on his way.
“Romeo trains more or less the same as someone else and it is much more determined,”
he said.
“When it started I insisted he did a month of basic exercises like aerobics, push-ups and basic gymnastics to prepare his body.
“After that I specially designed lightweight dumbbells and taught him basic weight lifting exercises to shape his biceps and triceps. Its size and weight were taken care of so that it never hurt.”
Romeo is famous in his home country, and his father spoke of his pride in his son’s determination to overcome difficulties in the way.
“There has never been bothered at being so small. He has no inferiority complex. It is the jewel of our family.”
After making its way into the record books, Romeo says he wants to dance on stage.
“My dream is to travel a lot – I want to accomplish in London with my idol, Jazzy-B,”
he said.
UPDATE: Aditya “Romeo” Dev died on september 13th , 2012 after aneurysm rupture.
Doctor Neeraj Chandan( Satyam Hospital ) said
“He was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state.It was due to massive bleeding which had caused brain damage or aneurysm bleeding. There were very rare chances of him surviving.”
In 2008 a US Doctor diagnosed that he had Moyamoya syndrome (arteries in the brain are constricted) along with cerebral aneurysm and he warned that it could rupture.
