Hybrid Animal Zebra and Deer
  • Known Commonly “forest giraffe.
  • It looks like Zebras but actually it does not come from Zebra’s family.  It is Hybrid animal between a deer and a zebra. Okapis aren’t as tall as giraffes.
  • It is a large African mammal having a dark chestnut coat with stripes on the hindquarters and upper legs. The stripes on an okapi’s legs provide excellent camouflage. Its body are ark purple or reddish-brown fur and produce oil from their skin that helps waterproof their fur. Their tongue is long enough to clean their eyes and ears.  
  • They are herbivorous and lives in low dense rainforest. We see them only in the central, northern, and eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo and okapis are mainly found within the Ituri Forest and prefer very dense tropical rainforests.
