What is mean by Turquoise
Turquoise mineral is opaque, blue to green, which is a hydrated copper phosphate and aluminum. It is rare and valuable in finer classes and has been enjoyed as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years due to its unique hue. In recent times, turquoise, like most other opaque stones, has been devalued by the introduction of treatments, imitations, and synthetics on the market.
The substance has been known by many names, but the word turquoise, which dates from the 16th century, is derived from an old French word for “Turkish”, because the ore was first introduced to Europe from Turkey , mines historical Khorasan province of Iran. Pliny the Elder called the mineral as callais, the Iranians have called “phirouzeh” and the Aztecs knew as Teoxihuitl.
