Till 1995 domain registrations were free and no one need to spend even a single penny to purchase it to start their website lots of people have purchased it and internet is capable of providing it and all kinds of do domain names were purchased.In 1995 Network solutions was granted the permission to charge on Domain Purchase and since then for purchasing the domain the initial cost was set at $100 per 2 years of registrations it was too expensive for people then to purchase it.
Then 30% of the fee in the form of donation were transferred to National Science foundation.to create an Internet intellectual Infrastructure fund. Later on Their price were reduced to $70 for 2 years.
