The ability to run Budhia has led to celebrity status and he appeared in a number of television commercials. These advertisements and glory Budhia allegedly lead to significant financial gains in the name of the late Mr. Biranchi Das, Budhia’s coach. The controversy over the nature of these gains has led to accusations of exploitation against Mr. Das and a formal investigation by the Indian officials Child Protection was launched January 4, 2006. It has since been established that Mr. Das never received the money alleged.
May 8, 2006, a government statement had ordered Budhia stop running until the age of 11 years. He received an athletic scholarship for excellence.
On August 13, 2007, Biranchi Das was arrested by Indian police on suspicion of torture. Singh accused his coach of beating him and refuse food, and said he would give running. Police said they had been arrested and charged with criminal intimidation Das. Das said the Singh family has paid the price for financial reasons and rows of small. He said he recently expelled Singh from a sister school of judo, he ran because she has misbehaved, and he had refused to build Singh’s mother a new house. However, Singh showed the scars he told journalists have been left by the abuse from the coach. “He hung upside down from a ceiling fan,” he told reporters. “He locked me in a room for two days without food.” Das denied the allegations and said that the scars are old, the result of hard child’s early childhood in the slums of the city is India Bhubaneswar. After a thorough medical examination, it was determined that there was no evidence against Biranchi Das and all charges were dropped.
RECORD BOOK LIMCA

May 2, 2006, Budhia Singh completed a 65 km (40 mile) range from Chapandie temple in Bhubaneshwar in seven hours, two minutes. This feat was recorded in the Limca Book of Records. Budhia completed 65 km away, but collapsed 5 km below the target 70 km away.
MURDER BIRANCHI DAS


Biranchi Das was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bhubaneswar on the evening of April 13, 2008. According to police, “Das, a judo coach, was sitting inside the judo center in BJB College area along some of his friends after a training session when the attackers struck.” A trial is currently underway.
On December 13, 2010 Court Bhabeneswar highway killers found guilty and the final award was adopted December 17, 2010. Sandeep Acharya alias both Raja and his associate were sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment.
